Lincoln Park, red light cameras at issue – MiamiHerald.com
Miami Beach’s city commissioners have a lot of decisions to make when they meet Wednesday.
Among the list of items going before elected officials:
The design for Lincoln Park. The proposed $13 million park to the east of the New World Symphony Building is up for a vote. Design firm West 8 has proposed a lushly landscaped, 2.5-acre plot that would serve as a passive park by day and a place where people can gather at night to watch performances on the building’s facade.
A proposed expansion of the city’s artist vendor and street performer district.
Red light cameras. The city has given its red light camera vendor an ultimatum to have cameras ready to issue citations or nearly ready at eight intersection approaches by the time they meet Wednesday. Likely to be included in the discussion is any impact of a recent circuit court judge’s ruling that Aventura can’t cite red light runners caught on camera.
The city’s law regarding waste hauling. Tweaks could be approved to the law, including a provision that contractors must offer up recycling to commercial customers.
The city’s red sidewalks and Flamingo Park tennis courts are also to be discussed.
