Red light cameras are unsafe and they violate Illinois' due process. They should be banned!
xxxxxxxx,
These cameras are a violation of my rights as a citizen of the United States of America. Take them down!!!
AGNIESZKA,
xxxxxxxx,
These red light cameras are a joke! If someone is riding you back bumper and cross the light, you get a ticket, yet a accident prevention isnt a real reason to have the ticket revoked. So is the state of Illinois telling us common folk to have the accident so we dont get a ticket?? To me thats what theresaying.
kristin,
I have a fan page against red light cameras on facebook with almost 8,000 members as well.

Sergio M Rivera,
These cameras actually cause more accidents than prevent them. People pannick at intersections and slam on the brakes when the light is changing and the person behind them thinks that they're going to go through the intersection instead and they end up in a rear end collision

These things are a joke. No safety is coming out of these, only more accidents. Talk about Big Brother watching your every move. 1984, here we come.
xxxxxxxx,
Red light cameras are dangerous in bad weather conditions and also extremely annoying! BAN THEM!
Rachael Lin Lukaszewski,
Aaron Velazquez,
I feel like many others that the cameras cause drivers to panic and slam on the brakes instead of using good sense and safe decision-making. Most of the cameras are in place to generate revenue and not safety. Most tickets are for right hand turns, which may be rolling stops and not blatant running of a red light. They violate due process of law!
Mike,
These things may help or not but thats not the point these eliminate personal feedom and liberty.
Nicholas Centenaro,
I received a fine for turning right at stop light
xxxxxxxx,
Government insults our intelligence by telling us they're for safety. Seriously!?! What a joke!!
xxxxxxxx,
These camera are unsafe and violate our rights!
xxxxxxxx,
Statistics do NOT support the alledged reason for these cameras...safety. Statistics do support the real reason...money.
Lee Scheier,
the short yellow particularly on large and long intersections is clearly a speed trap, when you enter the intersection the light turns yellow, you can't stop in the middle of the intersection by the time you try to get out of the intersection the light turns red
K Cook,
Red light camera's cause people to panic and react in a dangerous way that they normally would not. I have seen people jam on their brakes, try to make their left turn before they are stuck in the middle of the intersection right in front of on comming cars in a panic of getting a ticket and people who punch it to get through the intersection. The whole thing is just a way to make money. The company who runs the red light camera's is making a very large profit. (they are paid a percentage of the fine) The tickets are handled by each city and not even with a real judge. (by an attorney appointed by the city to act as a judge) I really feel that the original idea was for safety, but now safety is not in mind at all just money.
Amanda,
I am furious at the unconstitutionality of these cameras. I've gotten several tickets sent to me in the mail by these things and it's always for passing through YELLOW lights, not red ones. I have not paid a single one of them, and i refuse to pay any more that get sent to me. I refuse to allow Redflex to rob me of my paychecks with this hoax!
Kelly,

its becoming a brave new world society these cameras should be banned
Russel Katz,
The social function that the police regulate should not be sold by the city to private interests. It is obvious that the motives behind the red light cameras are financial. The city to quickly liquidate its responsibility and gain capital (13.5 million) in a time of financial downturn, and for the Redflex Holdings Group to expand it financial portfolio. There is also no independent oversight to ensure the accuracy of these cameras.
Jack B,
I understand the reason for the cameras, but they seem to just sort of "go off" sometimes without there being a violation. Furthermore, my letters of contest have gone unanswered. Also, the fines are RIDICULOUS! At least reduce them a bit!
xxxxxxxx,
