San Mateo responds to red-light report – San Mateo Daily Journal

Red-light cameras are not a money maker for the city of San Mateo but the county has potentially generated nearly $3.6 million in new revenue to support the increased workload caused by drivers challenging the citations, according to city officials. The dichotomy of opinions — which must mean some county jurisdiction must be making money, if not San Mateo — comes within the city’s formal response to a San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury report issued in June on the effectiveness of red-light traffic enforcement.

Red-light cameras come to Chesapeake – The Virginian-Pilot

Starting today, cameras at the intersection known as Edmonds Corner in Chesapeake will be snapping photos of motorists who run through red lights. The intersection, where Battlefield Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue meet Campostella Road, is the first in the city to receive red light cameras, but it won’t be the last. Twenty-eight intersections are on a list for consideration, and as many as 21 – the maximum permitted in Chesapeake under state law – could be chosen.
