Governor Pat Quinn today signed a bill into law that will cut down on abuse of red lights by dramatically reforming oversight of red light cameras in Illinois. The law will further protect consumers by improving motorists’ right to appeal a red light camera ticket.

A new law in Illinois doesn’t prohibit use of red-light cameras, but it does help ensure uniformity of laws throughout the state and make it easier for drivers to appeal tickets. Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law a bill that is intended to reform oversight of red-light cameras throughout the state.
